Payment Options

To review and change settings on the Payments > Payment Options page, you must have the Web Setup > Payments Setup access permission.

The following tables provide information about the settings on the Payment Options page.

General

Setting Options and Description

Digital Receipt Options

Use Flat Receipt Option Selector

This setting determines whether guests are asked to rate their experience in addition to selecting a receipt delivery option.

Note

When you use Fast $ to collect payment, this screen does not appear.

  • Yes

    Select this option to show the following one- to five-star rating and receipt delivery options to guests.

    A screen with options to select from one to five stars and to send a receipt via email, text, printed copy, or no receipt.
  • No

    Select this option to show the following receipt delivery options to guests.

    A screen with options to send a receipt via email, text, printed copy, or no receipt.

Cash

Setting Options and Description

Receipt Options

Digital Receipt Dialog

This setting determines whether the receipt delivery option screen (as configured in the General section) appears after every cash transaction or on request only.

Note

When you use Fast $ to collect payment, this screen does not appear.

  • Yes, show the receipt dialog after each cash payment (Digital Receipts only)

    Select this option to include options for Void and Done on the change due dialog. When a cashier or server selects Done, the receipt delivery option screen appears so that the guest can make selections.

  • No, skip this dialog (Digital Receipts only)

    Select this option to include options for Void, Receipt, and No Receipt on the change due dialog. The receipt delivery option screen appears only if the cashier selects Receipt.

Thank You Dialog

This setting determines whether a thank you message appears after every cash payment transaction.

Note

When you use Fast $ to collect payment, the thank you screen does not appear regardless of how you configure this setting.

  • Yes

    Select this option to display the following message (with your own restaurant name) to guests.

    A screen with a thank you message from the restaurant.

    If your restaurant uses the Toast loyalty program and you want to prompt guests to sign up, you must select this option in addition to selecting Yes for the Rewards Signup setting.

  • No

    If you want to prompt guests to sign up for your restaurant's Toast loyalty program, selecting this option will not display the sign up prompt regardless of how you configure the Rewards Signup option.

Rewards Signup

This setting determines whether guests are prompted to sign up for your restaurant's Toast loyalty program.

Note that you see this setting only if you configure the following settings under Marketing > Rewards Program on the Toast administration back-end:

  • In the Rewards Program section, set the Enable Loyalty setting to Yes.

  • In the Toast Rewards section, set the Enabled? setting to Yes.

Note

If you configure the Thank You Dialog setting to No, the sign up prompt is not displayed regardless of how you configure this setting. You must set both Thank You Dialog and Rewards Signup settings to Yes to display the sign up prompt.

    Select this option to display the following sign-up prompt after guests pay for their check.

    A screen with an option to sign up for the Toast loyalty program.
  • No

Cash Receipt Options

Credit

Setting Options and Description

Signature Threshold

This setting accepts a number in US dollar format, for example, 20.00.

Print Receipt Threshold

This setting accepts a number in US dollar format, for example, 10.00.

Rewards Signup

This setting determines whether guests are prompted to sign up for your restaurant's Toast loyalty program.

Note that you see this setting only if you configure the following settings under Marketing > Rewards Program:

  • In the Rewards Program section, set the Enable Loyalty setting to Yes.

  • In the Toast Rewards section, set the Enabled? setting to Yes.

Enable Credit Card Pre-Authorization

Minimum Pre-Authorization Amount

This setting appears if Enable Credit Card Pre-Authorization is set to Yes.

This setting accepts a number greater than 0 in US dollar format, for example, 0.25.

Background Processing of Transactions

Enable Background Processing

This setting determines whether credit card transactions can be accepted when an internet connection has been lost.

  • Yes, Fast Processing

  • Yes, Offline Mode (recommended)

  • No, Never

Transaction Limit when Offline

This setting defines an upper limit for transaction amounts of offline credit card payments. The limit is not applied to employees who have the Offline/Background Credit Card Processing permission.

This setting accepts a number in US dollar format, for example, 100.00.

Digital Receipt Options

Tip & Signature UI

  • Use the combined Tip & Signature Screen

    An additional setting is available after you select this option.

  • Use the legacy Tip screen along with the legacy signature screen

Tips Enabled

This setting appears if Tip & Signature UI is set to Use the combined Tip & Signature Screen.

  • Yes, show the tip dialog

  • No

Table Service

  • Allow receipt option screen during authorization

  • Wait for authorization to succeed

Quick Service

  • Allow receipt option screen during authorization

Note

If your restaurant uses the Toast loyalty program, you see the following Rewards configuration section only if you configure the following settings under Marketing > Rewards Program on the Toast administration back-end:

  • In the Rewards Program section, set the Enable Loyalty setting to Yes.

  • In the Toast Rewards section, set the Enabled? setting to Yes.

Rewards

Setting Options and Description

Lookup Account

This setting determines whether an employee can look up a guest's Toast loyalty rewards account on a Toast POS device using their name, email address, or phone number, or if the guest must present their loyalty rewards card at the POS.

  • Yes, allow lookup by name and email/phone number

    Select this option to display the Lookup button in the Apply Rewards Card dialog.

    The Apply Rewards Card dialog with an option to look up a guest's Toast loyalty account.
  • No, customer must present a rewards card at point of sale

    Select this option to exclude the Lookup button from the Apply Rewards Card dialog.


Gift Card

Setting Options and Description

Minimum Amount

This setting accepts a number greater than 0 and less than 100 in US dollar format, for example, 5.00.

This value sets the lowest possible US dollar amount that you can add to a Toast gift card in a gift card purchase or add value transaction. This applies to gift card transactions on both Toast POS devices and a restaurant's online gift card purchase page.

Maximum Amount

This setting accepts a number greater than 0 and less than 100 in US dollar format, for example, 100.00.

This value sets the highest possible US dollar amount that you can add to a Toast gift card in a gift card purchase or add value transaction. This applies to gift card transactions on both Toast POS devices and a restaurant's online gift card purchase page.

Receipt Options

This setting enables or disables the following screens in the digital receipt sequence.

  • Tips Enabled

  • Show Receipt Dialog

  • Show Thank You Dialog

  • Show Rewards Signup Dialog

    This settiong appears only if the Enabled? option is set to Yes under the Toast Rewards section in Marketing > Rewards Program.

Accept gift card payment for gift card purchases

This setting is available to Toast employees (and third-party resellers) only.

Allow gift cards to be discounted

  • Yes, allow check level discounts to be applied to gift cards

  • No, do not allow check level discounts to be applied to gift cards


LevelUp

Setting Options and Description

LevelUp Enabled?

  • Enable LevelUp

    When selected, the Authenticate with LevelUp button appears.

  • Disable LevelUp

Merchant ID

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp. When you select Authenticate with LevelUp and supply your credentials, your ID appears.

Name

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp. When you select Authenticate with LevelUp and supply your credentials, your name appears.

Saved Location ID

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp. When you select Authenticate with LevelUp and supply your credentials, your ID appears.

Payment Options

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp. This setting enables or disables Tax Exempt payments.

Receipt Options

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp. This setting enables or disables the following screens in the digital receipt sequence:

  • Show Receipt Dialog

  • Show Thank You Dialog

LevelUp loyalty points for gift cards

This setting appears when you set LevelUp Enabled to Enable LevelUp.

  • Yes, allow customers to accrue points

  • No, do not allow customers to accrue points or apply check level discounts to gift cards
