Sending on-screen notifications on expediter fulfillment

If your kitchen includes a KDS device for one or two expediters, you can configure the Toast POS to send notifications to server devices when an expediter marks the order fulfilled.

Notifications are only sent after orders are fulfilled on an expediter screen. You cannot configure notifications to be sent after fulfillment on a prep station screen.

On-screen notifications have the following characteristics.

  • Servers receive notifications on the device where they are currently signed in. If the server is not signed in to a device when the order is fulfilled, the notification does not display.

  • When a device receives a notification, a sound plays and an exclamation point (!) icon appears near the Toast logo. When the server taps the icon, the message "Table {n}/Check#{n}: Dishes are ready to be served" followed by the time appears.

  • If your kitchen is configured to Enable individual item fulfillment, the notification is sent after all items are marked fulfilled.

  • If your kitchen workflow has two expediters, the notification is sent as soon as either of the two expediters marks the order fulfilled.
