USB Permission Issues

The card reader connects to the Toast Go through a USB port. If you uninstall and then reinstall the Toast POS app or clear the defaults in the app, then the first time you start the app, you are presented with two USB permission dialog boxes. You must enable the USB permissions in both dialog boxes in order for the card reader to work. To do so, in both USB permission dialog boxes, enable the Use by default for this USB device option and then tap OK.

Two issues related to USB permissions can happen, both of which are resolved by clearing the Toast POS app's default settings and restarting the app. They are:

  • The USB permission dialog boxes continue to appear after the first time you start the Toast POS app.

  • The USB permission boxes were accidentally dismissed without enabling the USB permission setting and are no longer accessible to you. In this case, the card reader will not function and the credit card icon at the top left of the screen shows that the card reader is disabled.

If either of these conditions exist, do the following:

  1. Go to the Android operating system's Settings on the Toast Go.

  2. Tap Apps, then tap Toast POS.

  3. Tap Force Stop.

  4. Tap Clear Defaults.

  5. Restart the Toast POS app.

  6. You are presented with two USB permission dialog boxes. In both USB permission dialog boxes, enable the Use by default for this USB device option and then tap OK.
