Payment workflow changes

This section describes aspects of the Toast platform payment workflow that are new in version 2.44 of the Toast POS app. It provides additional detail related to the payment workflow change described in the Toast Platform Technical Release Notes.

Change overview

  • The user interface for more than 20 payment screens has been updated.

  • Tip entry now follows payment.

  • Improve employee visibility on server side; servers using a Guest Facing Display (GFD) can view what screen a guest is on instead of a generic “Waiting for guest input” message.

  • Servers can choose to skip guest actions (e.g. tipping or signing up for loyalty rewards) when taking payments.

  • The payment workflow now prompts guests to remove credit cards, to prevent guests from leaving cards behind.
