When a Toast POS device goes offline, a status dialog informs you of the cause of the networking outage and lists some steps to take. The dialog displays after the device has been disconnected for 40 seconds.
There are three versions of the offline dialog, depending on the cause of the disruption:
Device is offline due to network connection issues
For this case, there is no internet connection at all (this includes no LAN or Wi-Fi connections). In this state, there are no printer connections.
This is an issue with the network connection for the device. To recover, first check that your network cable is securely connected or Wi-Fi is enabled on the device.

Device is offline due to internet service disruption
For this case, the local area network (including Wi-Fi connections) is working, but it cannot connect to the internet. In this state, there are printer connections.
This is an ISP issue (not a Toast issue). Contact your ISP to resolve this type of connection issue.

Device is offline due to Toast cloud services disruption
For this case, the internet connection (including Wi-Fi connections) is working, but the Toast POS device is offline due to Toast services being unavailable. In this state, there are printer connections.
This is a Toast networking or back-end issue. Toast is working to resolve the issue.

In the dialog, click Learn More to get more information about what you can do when your POS device is in offline mode. For example, you can do the following when a device is offline due to network connection issues.

Click Offline Troubleshooting to go back to the offline dialog or Got It to exit the dialog.
When a device is offline due to network connectivity or internet issues, a yellow status bar displays at the top of the Toast POS app screen to remind you that the device is offline, as shown in this example:

When a device is offline due to a Toast service outage, an orange status bar displays at the top of the Toast POS app screen, as shown in this example:

You can click More Info to open the offline dialog.
