Technical release notes

This document provides information about the technical changes that are included in Toast platform releases. The intent of these release notes is to inform technically-focused Toast platform users of the parts of the product that have new or changed functionality.

Where possible, release notes include references to corresponding product documentation. The intent of the Toast platform technical release notes is to communicate changes in the product. The technical release notes do not provide thorough explanations of product functionality or instructions for using the product. For technical product documentation, see the Toast Administrator's Guide. For restaurant employee product documentation, see Toast Central.

The release notes for a Toast platform version include changes in the Toast POS app, the Toast administration back-end, and many components of the cloud POS service. During the release process for a Toast POS app version, Toast releases changes to the Toast administration back-end and other cloud services multiple times. This release notes document includes changes to cloud service components for the Toast POS app version they correspond to.

Feature availability The Toast platform includes configuration controls that allow Toast support teams to customize the platform for individual restaurants and restaurant groups. In some cases, the new and changed functionality described in these release notes may not be available for your restaurant. For information about the functionality that is enabled and available for your restaurant, contact Toast support.

Limited release Some of the new Toast POS features described in these release notes are in limited release and only available to some customers. This occurs when a feature is undergoing customer testing, going through a staggered roll-out, or limited to specific customers for other reasons. Features that are in limited release are marked as such. If you see a release note for a limited feature and that feature is not available to you but you are interested in using it, contact Toast support.
