Getting started

The details page for each menu has a Channel visibility section where you can choose the channels a menu is visible to. A channel is a device, an app, or a website where guests and servers can view menus and place orders. There are five visibility options:

Option Used for

POS

In-restaurant orders placed on a Toast POS device

Kiosk, Toast Order & Pay

In-restaurant orders placed on a Toast Kiosk, or placed using Toast Mobile Order and Pay

Toast Online Ordering, Toast Takeout (Local by Toast) app

Online orders placed on your Toast Online Ordering site or on the Toast Takeout (Local by Toast) app

Customer invoices

Customer invoices created for large orders and catering through the Payments > Customer Invoices page in Toast Web

Online ordering partners

Orders placed through third-party ordering partner integrations (for example, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, and so on)

When you toggle Online ordering partners to the On position, additional visibility options appear if you integrate with third-party ordering partners. By default, all ordering partners are selected. You can choose to disable any partner that the menu shouldn't be visible to.

The partner-specific visibility settings are available in the menu builder tool. Instructions contained later on in this section describe how to access this tool and use these settings.
