Toast POS app version 2.76

The following sections describe updates included in the Toast POS app release version 2.76.

Toast kiosk user-interface updates

The Toast kiosk user-interface has been updated in the following ways:

  • Improved auto-scrolling performance with snap to selection behavior

To improve performance for guests, Toast kiosk auto-scrolling has been updated to a new “snap” experience. The snap behavior means that the menu navigation jumps to the menu area that a guest selects.

  • Overlapping SMS Terms and Conditions and Continue buttons

On the phone number entry fulfillment screen, the SMS Terms and Conditions button overlapped with the Continue button. These buttons no longer overlap.

Kiosk devices now support offline mode

Kiosk now has Offline Mode support to process orders and payments during an outage.

Toast kiosk modifier bug fixes

The following issues have been fixed for modifiers used on a Toast kiosk order.

  • Previously, modifiers did not show accurate pricing, and only included base pricing without taxes. Now, modifiers show the correct prices, which includes base pricing and taxes.

  • Size based modifiers configured with the menu setting Modifiers automatically use the same size as the items they are applied to were displayed on Kiosk incorrectly, with a nested modifier called See options that required a menu item size to be manually selected. Now size based modifiers configured with this menu setting display correctly based on the selected size and do not open the nested modifier panel.

  • When selecting a modifier that uses a nested modifier option, the selection panel was not displaying. Now the nested modifier panel displays when selected.

  • For some modifier groups configured with size based pricing, the modifier group would not appear on the Toast kiosk application. Now size based modifier groups display as expected.

  • Previously, modifiers showed a $0 total in the cart. Modifiers now show the correct price when added to the cart.

Toast kiosk loyalty bug fixes

The following issues have been fixed for the Toast kiosk loyalty experience.

  • On Toast kiosk devices, the camera used for scanning QR codes did not turn on when QR code scanning was the only check in option. Now, the camera turns on when QR code scanning is the only check-in option.

  • Previously, the Toast kiosk app showed loyalty related prompts even if loyalty was disabled. Now, if loyalty is disabled, loyalty prompts no longer show.

  • Previously, guests with no loyalty rewards were shown the You have rewards! dialog. Now, guests with no rewards see the You are earning rewards! dialog with a loyalty progress bar.

  • The rewards button text was displayed on two lines instead of one in portrait mode. Rewards button text now appears on one line in the portrait orientation.

  • Previously, the You’ve earned points on this order dialog, and loyalty progress bar did not show. Now, this dialog and progress bar appear as expected.

Individual item fulfillment navigation updated for KDS devices using bump bars

The bump bar functionality for kitchen display system (KDS) devices has been updated to allow for individual item fulfillment using the FULFILL and RECALL LAST buttons. Previously, you had to navigate the UI to fulfill or unfulfill individual items. For more information, see Fulfilling an item or items using the bump bar.

Combine checks while quick changing tables

When long pressing on a table to move an order, you now have the option to combine all the checks onto one check.

Menu item search from the order screen now optional

You can now disable the menu item search option that shows on the Toast POS app. To disable the menu item search, in Toast Web change the setting Front of House > Order screen setup > UI options > Enable menu item search? to No.

Price input for special requests now optional

You can now disable the price entry for special requests. To remove the price for special requests, disable the Toast web setting Front of House > Order screen setup > Special request price entry.

Seat assignment modes can now be set per POS device

You can now choose to assign seats by modifier or by seat header per POS device. The following items describe the available seat assignment modes.

  • By modifier: You can use the order by modifier mode if you want to assign seats as an item modifier and sort your check by course or time. This is the classic way to assign a seat.

  • By seat header: You can use the order by seat header mode if you want checks to be ordered by seat and items to be assigned to the last chosen seat. To enable this option, and for more information about order by seat header, see Order by seat.

Note

This feature is in limited release in the Toast Test Kitchen for restaurants using Toast POS version 2.76 or newer. To gain early access to this, and other features, sign up for Test Kitchen.

ASAP orders are now included when using the custom date filter for a single day

In the Orders Hub, when you set the custom date filter to the current day, orders with the expected fulfillment value of ASAP are now shown in the filtered results.
