Quote time strategy overview

You must have Web setup > Restaurant Operations Setup access permission to view and configure your restaurant's quote time strategy.

Quote time is the amount of time it takes to prepare a guest's online order for pickup or delivery. The quote time is the prep time + applicable delivery time. The estimated quote time is displayed on your restaurant's Toast Online Ordering website, Toast TakeOut, Orders Hub, and on the online ordering dashboard. For example, on the Toast Online Ordering website, the quote time is displayed under the Order now button and is displayed at the top of the Orders Hub screen.

The Quote time strategy section on the Takeout & delivery page in the Toast administration back-end is where you can configure and manage your restaurant’s quote times for takeout and delivery. The Quote time strategy section offers three strategy options - Manual, Kitchen capacity, and Order price. Once you choose a strategy, you configure takeout and delivery quote times for that strategy to indicate the amount of time it takes to complete an order.

  • Manual: Configure fixed values for takeout and delivery quote times.

  • Kitchen capacity (formerly known as order caps): Configure an order volume and one or more values for takeout and delivery quote times.

  • Order price: Configure one or more values for takeout and delivery quote times based on the total price of the order.

Quote times displayed affect orders placed via the Toast Online Ordering website, Toast TakeOut, or the Toast POS app. Quote times do not apply to online ordering channels.

Note

If your restaurant does not use Toast Online Ordering, the Quote times section is displayed instead of the Quote time strategy section. In the Quote times section, you can specify takeout and delivery quote times that are used as default quote times for the orders placed via Toast POS devices.
