You can version menu items if necessary, however, if you only need to set different prices for menu items that appear in different locations, you should use location-specific pricing instead of versioning. Location-specific pricing allows you to set different prices per location on a single version of a menu item.
If you need to override other aspects of a menu item, you can use versioning. Note that, if you version a menu item and then want to set location-specific pricing, you will have to set the location-specific pricing on all versions of the menu item.
