Guest count weight overview

Note

The guest count weight feature is in limited release.

A menu item's or modifier's guest count weight is a numeric value, for example 1, 3, or 0.5, that represents the number of guests one portion of the item serves.

  • A guest count weight of 0.5 indicates that the item is not considered a full portion and that it typically supplements another item. For example, a side salad item or modifier can have a guest count weight of 0.5.

  • A guest count weight of 1 indicates that the item is considered a full portion. For example, an entrée like Pasta Primavera can have a guest count weight of 1.

  • A guest count weight greater than 1 indicates that the item counts as a full portion for more than one guest. For example, a barbecue sampler platter can have a guest count weight of 2.

The Toast platform uses guest count weights to auto-generate the calculated guest count for orders. For more information, see Calculated guest count.
